LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - We are deep into league play in the Southern Section while other sections are either just getting started with league games or are a week away. With Spring Break tournaments starting as soon as next week, the finish line is beginning to become clearer as we march towards the postseason.

As you gear up for baseball this week, be sure to check out our Southern Section and San Joaquin Section Games of the Week and be sure to check back to our website as we’ll be releasing more Games of the Week throughout the week.

The Top Five:

Orange Lutheran holds on to the top spot after a series win against then No. 11 JSerra. Corona stays in the No. 2 spot after a three-game sweep of arch-rival Norco who was No. 24 in the state at the time. The Panthers used some late inning magic to secure the sweep on Friday. Harvard Westlake remains at No. 3 after a 2-0 week saw them sweep league rival Notre Dame. The Wolverines continue to score runs in bunches and are getting stellar pitching from the entire rotation. Valley Christian (San Jose) moves up to the No. 4 spot due to their 9-0 start. The Warriors have outscored opponents 55-11 in those games with their closest game coming in a 6-5 win over Leigh last Saturday. La Costa Canyon moves up into the No. 5 making them the highest ranked team from San Diego. The Mavericks were off last week but own a win over Power 25 Newcome Granite Hills.

Risers/Newcomers:

+ Westlake moves up to No. 7 in the state as a result of their 9-0 start to the season. A huge three-game series with league rival Calabasas awaits the Warriors this week.

+ Maranatha moves up two spots to No. 11 on the back of a 2-0 week. The Minutemen have a bona fide ace in Zach Strickland and are getting offensive contributions up-and-down the lineup. Maranatha has a three-game week as they continue their series with Valley Christian and will face off against Winward.

+ Granite Hills (San Diego)  enters the rankings at No. 16 spot due to their scorching start at 6-1 with their only loss coming to La Costa Canyon in their third game of the season. The Eagles play a who’s who in San Diego and that will continue this week as they face off with Montgomery and No. 14 St. Augustine.

+ Bellarmine moves into the Power 25 at No. 21 on the heels of a 5-1 start to their season. The Bells will be tested this week against league rival Archbishop Mitty as the two teams square off in a two-game series.

+ San Dimas enters the Power 25 at No. 24 with a 10-2 record and their current eight game winnings streak. The Saints also own a win over No. 7 Aquinas earlier this season. With a deep pitching staff and lineup, the Saints are looking primed for a deep postseason run.
