LOS ANGELES, CALIF.The playoffs get underway in SoCal this week and with as good as some of the series were last weekend, the playoffs are certain to provide more drama in the coming weeks.

Much has been said and debated about the brackets of the CIF-SS and much more will be said and written until the games start. The Southern Section Division I title It is widely viewed as the hardest championship to win in California baseball and it has as much to do with luck as it does talent. That's the burden of a single elimination tournament.

We had a lot of conversations over the past week with high school coaches about the recently announced CIF State Southern California Regional Championships. And while many were unsure about the how the seedings and logistics of it will work, all of them seemed eager about the opportunity that this event presents in the hopes of one day having having a true state championship.

The San Diego and Central Sections playoffs will get underway next week.

There are three new entrants into the Power 25 with No. 16 Grossmont, No. 23 Palo Alto, and No. 24 Hart as the latter two claimed league championships last week while Grossmont sits atop their league with two games remaining.

There’s so much more baseball to be played. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram for videos/notes throughout the week.

Until then, we present the Prep Baseball Report California Power 25 for the week of 5/31/21.
