Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Body: 6-5, 220 lbs. Larger build with strength and athleticism throughout.
Hit: Simple swing. Stands slightly open with hands tight behind the ear. Simple forward stride as hip and torso start to internally rotate. Smooth stroke. Above-average bat speed. Back elbow works under nicely which allows the bat to work on a more flat-upward path. Gets high and extended at finish. Pullside approach in BP but pounded a 3B off the RC wall during game action.
Power: 100mph max exit velo and 390ft max distance. Showed some pullside HR power in BP with 2HR and flashed some oppo wall ball power in game action.
Defense: One of the better defensive 1Bs of the event. Good feet and sure glove. Quick whippy arm that made accurate throws. Also solid around the bag.
Run: 7.54 laser timed 60.
Mechanics: Side steps into a higher knee tuck. Then the torso works down to let the arm get to that side arm slot easier. Lands slightly toward the 3B side of the rubber which gives his slot more deception against RHHs. Bent front leg at landing.
FB: Worked it more east-west. Heavy ASR shown with present horizontal break of 16.5 inch average and 20.6 inch max. Not much of a K pitch but hard to square up due to movement.
SL: Real good sweeping slider due to minimal VB break of 0.5 inch average. Great K pitch against RHHs. Showed ability to throw it for strikes and as a chase pitch.
SPLT: Present ASR with this pitch as well. Lower spin allowed for some late downward action. Showed decent feel for it but still developing.
