4/09/19

At Scotts Valley - Uncommitted. 1-inning viewing that continues to make jumps and improve. XL Frame that is long and lean with H-3/4 release creating tremendous angle and ability to run FB under the hands of the RHH. FB is making jumps in velo working today 84-87 T88 MPH with nasty arm-side run and sink. FB actions set up the SLD very well and handcuff RHH’s; very uncomfortable AB’s creating ugly swings and miss. SLD was short with cut actions at 75 MPH and used mainly to finish hitters. The body has plenty of space to continue to add to it and is the type of pitcher that you could easily see in the back end of the bullpen. Ceiling continue to be pushed up and looks like a guy that two-years from now could be a special piece in the bullpen of a big college program.

3/19/19

At Harbor - Uncommitted. Long, projectable righty finished the game showing a heavy FB and creating uncomfortable AB’s for hitters finishing with 2K’s. FB was 82-83 T85 MPH and it was the higher velo flashes that keeps on peaking my interest. I found out after the game that Washburn is a goalie who hasn’t put much emphasis on pitching until this season and the build and arm actions flash some jumps in the near future with a full-time commitment to pitching.

3/14/19 vs Leigh - Uncommitted. Came in relief for 5th-6th innings creating soft contact and missing some bats. Command was up and down walking two guys to start 2nd inning of work, but was able to make adjustments. XL frame with length in limbs in long and very lean frame; projectable room for growth. Hands start at the chest lifting and pushing apart with quick front knee. Glove arm creates some deception with full swing in front as delivery has some cross-fire with front leg riding the mound and back leg drives. Arm has length out of the glove getting to M3/4 release with a lot of head movement as well. Arm has late actions out front over stiff front leg. Could see some more consistency in velo with work on back leg; times where he spins it off rubber instead of using to drive down hill. FB 81-83 T86 MPH with arm-side run. At it’s best it can run under bat path in on RHH and away from LHH. SLD 68-71 MPH with best ones flashing bite and cross-plate actions. Too often pitch was short and flat in actions, but was more effective when having small depth in pitch to miss bat path. Showed CHG (80) early that had similar arm-side run as FB and another that was more a straight CHG down through zone. Big, projectable frame and limbs that a pitching coach could develop for bullpen.
