2-26-17

6-foot-3, 215 pounds. Bats and throws left. A lot of juice in Carpenter's bat. Power to both gaps. Strong wrists and great extension through zone with level swing through zone but generates great back spin. Ball just flies off bat. Hard to pitch to because hands are back, and there is good plate coverage.

8-16-16
6-foot-3, 200 pounds. The Illinois State commit threw two scoreless innings sitting 82-84 mph with arm side run. On the mound he stands closed and gets slightly past balanced.  He drives hard to the plate and lands in-line on his delivery.  He throws from an over the top arm slot. Utilizes a 72-73 MPH curve with 1/7 tilt, 76-77 MPH change down in the zone and a 74-75 MPH slider. Changeup was nasty with late fade.

4-24-16
A 6-foot-3, 200-pound left hand hitting 1B/LHP who ran a 7.39 60.  Tall presence at the plate, hits from an open stance with a high leg kick to come square.  Strong leg drive through the ball with good power to the pull side.  Swing path is uphill creating a ball with carry.  Exit velocity was 93 MPH.  In the field he moves well around the bag, showed good hands on the double play ball.  Arm velocity was 72 MPH.  On the mound he stands closed and gets slightly past balanced.  He drives hard to the plate and lands in-line on his delivery.  He throws from an over the top arm slot.  He featured 4 pitches including an 82 MPH fastball with late movement, a 72-73 MPH curve, 76-77 MPH change down in the zone and a 74-75 MPH slider.
4-6-2016
