Scout Evaluation

Brendan Palmer, Ansonia, 2022, CT

Position: RHP/SS

Body: 6-foot-3, 195-pound projectable build.

Speed: 6.60 (60-yard).

Pitching:  Projectable. feel delivery, some effort. high ¾ arm angle, developing arm speed, loose arm action. Consistent balance point, in line shoulders, lands closed, a clean finish.

FB: (Max spin 1866;  Avg 1596). Around the zone accuracy, running action.

CB: Glove side control, sweeping action, 11/5 shape. (Max spin 1522; Avg 1522).

CH: Arm side command, fading action.

SL: Glove side control, tight action. (Max spin 1838; Avg 1595).

6-foot-3, 195-pound long, lengthy, loads of room for added weight gains. Above average on the mound, used a loose arm action with a ¾ arm angle while showing quick arm speed. Tall-and-fall type pitcher who uses easy effort. Showed tall balance point with even shoulders. Lands square with an athletic finish, could stay back on back half, behind the baseball. Sat with his fastball at 80-82 mph; had a hard fastball that showed sinking action and command low in the zone. His 1/7 curveball 66-68 mph; had very consistent control and slurvey action. Tons of projections, arm works with minimal effort, with easy cheese to arm side. High follow for me.

6-foot-3, 195-pound, larger, athletic frame, longer neck, sloped shoulders, a durable pitchers body. A right-handed pitcher, arm acton is super loose, whippy, long and loose on the back side, working out of a natural 3/4 to lower 3/4 slot. The fastball reached 79 mph, with a ton more in there as he continues to build strength and work on his craft. The lift is athletic, slight coil at the peak, the direction is across the body, frontside, needs to track longer, comes off before release. The fastball has action to arm side, chance to be a ground ball machine. The breaking ball has deception, with bigger break to it, clocked at 63 mph, spin rate is very good at 2170. Mixed in a slider as well, at 69 mph. Shows all the makings of a frontline arm, could turn into one of the better arms in the 2022 class.
