6-foot-1, 195-pound, strong, solid athletic frame, put together well. Well proportioned, showing strength throughout. A right-handed pitcher, working from the set position, showed very well at this event. The hands start and stay low at waist, gets loaded up on the backside, direction is inline, longer stride, landing slightly closed with lead foot. The arm action is long and smooth on the backside, working out of a 3/4 to higher slot. Throwing a heavy ball, had late action to arm side, fastball was clocked up to 80 mph, look for another jump in there. Threw a slurvy breaking ball, spin was tight, clocked at 70 mph. The changeup was thrown for strikes, arm side action and fade to it. The frame is durable, arm is clean, could be a mid 80's guy by next summer.

Martinek is a projectable, physical 6-foot, 172 pound prospect. The right-handed hitting infielder posted an exit velocity of 85 mph off the tee. He hits out of a narrow, square stance, with the hands in a relaxed position. He rotates on his front toe to move the weight to the launch position and begin the bat-head moving through the hitting zone. He takes an aggressive, quick path through contact and showed the ability to drive balls to all fields.
Defensively, he moves well and showed a strong arm, with a velocity of 80 mph on his throws. The feet are athletic as he moved to get into a balanced fielding position. He breaks down behind the ball, with the glove relaxed out front. He transitions well to the throwing position. The feet get him in a direct line with the target and he finishes through the play with good direction.
On the mound, he works solely out of the stretch. The movements are simple but allow him to be direct to home plate and balanced. The arm is quick and he uses a lower ¾ slot that produces late heavy sink on a fastball that sits 77-80 mph. He uses two different breaking pitches. The first is a slower, more traditional breaking ball at 68-69 mph. The other is a tight, harder slider that was 67 mph. He also showed the feel for a change-up at 75 mph.
Martinek is a guy to get out and see! The swing has a chance to be a plus tool and the arm talent on the mound is there.
