Nick Hunkele: RHP/OF, (2023) Notre Dame West Haven, CT. Merrimack College Commit, 5-foot-11, 183-pound strong build. Projectable and  athletic during batting practice, Hunkele's best exit velocity was 93 mph. (69.8 mph bat speed average). (21.1 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced athletic stance with a wrapping load, then used a small stride. Bat speed is quick, displays an uphill loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. In his round he found multiple barrels with loud contact. Aggressive approach. Above average athletic on the mound, showed a ¾ arm angle and a loose quick arm action with quick above average arm speed. Up-tempo type pitcher who uses some effort. Showed consistent balance point and in line shoulders. Lands closed with an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 86-87 mph; showed control arm side around the zone and running action. (Max spin 2104; Avg 2003). Throws a sharp curveball (75-78) that has glove side in the zone control and sweeping action. (Max spin 1771; Avg 1605). Threw his wipeout changeup (76-77) with fading action and arm side control. 

5-foot-11, 180-pound, lean athletic frame, with good strength throughout. A right-handed pitcher, arm is super fresh, still in beginning stages of being converted from catcher to pitcher. The delivery is compact, and builds a good amount of energy down the mound.  The lift is athletic, square and athletic finish. The arm works from a natural slot, fastball touched 88 mph, located to both sides, with action to arm side. Threw two above average breaking balls, slider at 77 mph and curveball at 75 mph. Works quick and attacks. Good looking arm.

5-foot-11, 160-pound physical frame. Raw at the plate, Hunkele was ranked 2nd with an exit velocity of 91 mph. Started in a tall stance with a high load, then used a short stride. Bat speed was above average, used a flat swing plane and level finish. Found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap approach. From the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 78 mph. Fluid while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 78 mph; has smooth feet, soft hands, and a fluid exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Behind the plate, throw downs to second were maxed at 75 mph; has twitchy hands, quick feet, and a clean exchange. Showed his ability to throw runners out with an efficient pop time of 1.90-2.07. Staggered setup with above average flexibility. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a high ¾ slot with a short arm action. Clocked a 60 time of 7.22 at the event. Above average on the mound, showed quick arm speed with a loose arm action and a ¾ arm angle. Up-tempo type pitcher and uses easy effort. Showed strong balance point with even shoulders. Lands square with an athletic finish. Threw his fastball 81-83 mph; has running action and consistent control with heavy movement. He showed tight action and very consistent command on his 11/5 curveball 71-72 mph. Has fading action and arm side command on his changeup 75-76 mph.
