6-fott, 175-pound proportional solid build. Strong and projectable at the plate, Schurman had a max exit velocity of 91 mph (67.8 mph bat speed average, 22.7 mph hand speed). Starts in an athletic open stance with a smooth controlled load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed was present and effcient, had a flat upward swing plane and high finish. He created loud contact and found multiple barrels. Aggessive approach. projectable in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 76 mph; has consistent rhythmic feet, sure consistent hands, and a clean exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Used a high 3/4 slot with a short quick arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the base. Clocked a time of 7.93 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, showed an over-the-top arm angle and a longer arm action with quick arm speed. Tall-and-fall type pitcher and shows some effort. Showed a strong balance point with even shoulders. Lands square with balanced finish. Slider (69-70) late action on the pitch and 11/5 shape. Threw his fastball 77-80; had arm side command and tailing action (Max spin 2002; avg 1920). Throws 12/6 curveball (69-70) with tight, late action (Max spin 1968; Avg 1968). Showed decent down in the zone command and fading action on the changeup (73-75).
Maryland Junior Future Trials
Body: 5’10”, 155 pounds. Strong, lanky, projectable frame.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, slightly open stance at the plate. Smooth back load with really nice hand separation and a shorter stride. Quick hands and bat sped through contact with a more level swing path. Keeps his hands inside the ball well, staying behind it with solid balance throughout. Creates some extension through contact and attacks the ball with intent with some lower half involvement. Strong middle to pull side line drive approach.
Power: 88 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Present pop to the pull side with more projected as the body fills out.
Arm: RH. INF - 72 mph. Throws with short arm action from a high three-quarter slot.
Defense: Fields the ball in closer to the body, funneling to the belt with quick, clean exchanges. Feet are active and momentum is consistent through the ball and towards the target. Solid range side to side with soft hands and fluid actions.
Run: 8.16 60-Yard Time.
Junior Future Game Trials Session II
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5’9”, 137 pounds. Athletic, projectable frame.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, slightly crouched stance at the plate. Smooth, quick toe tap load into a longer stride. Creates good hand separation and stays short to the ball with a more level swing path. Showed quick hands through the zone, generating some lower half involvement. Stays behind the ball well with good extension through contact, finishing with two hands. Middle of the field line drive approach.
Power: 72 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. INF - 70 mph. Throws with short arm action from a mid three quarter slot.
Defense: Works through the ball with active feet and an athletic base. Fields the ball out in front funneling quickly to the belt. Slight glove tap into clean exchanges and shows some range.
Run: 5.08 home-to-first time.
Delivery: Small side-step, full wind-up and high leg kick into a tall, compact balance point. Strong lower half drive off the rubber. Lands in-line to home plate with a full athletic finish. Throws with regular effort.
Arm Action: RH. Throws with long arm action from a mid to high three quarter slot.
FB: T70 mph, 68-70 mph.
CB: 56-58 mph.
