6/27/15 - USF commit. 6-foot-7 210 pounds with a very tall, lean, and projectable body with some strength. Upright at the plate and gets a nice separation for his load. Gets a good hand load to get his bat into a strong angle. Has good leverage and the ball jumps off his bat. Nice swing plane. 6.9-7.0 runner with long, loose strides.
2020 DRAFT: Long bodied and athletic at 6-foot-8, 225 pounds, Ragsdale leverages the ball with lower effort and creates a steep downplane with his 91-94 mph fastball. He also pounds the zone with a 78-80 mph hammer curveball; it’s a true ML out pitch with good grab and depth. He pitches to the bottom of the zone with his heater and throws his breaker in any count. This combination allowed him to strike out ten Florida Gators in just four innings during an early March start this spring. Although his fall of 2018 Tommy John surgery may deflate his draft value just a bit, Ragsdale is likely to be selected in the top five rounds.
8/1/18: With Shane McClanahan and others gone from the 2018 Bulls club, look for Ragsdale and others to assume larger roles. Ragsdale, a 6-foot-7, 215-pounder, tallied a 3.38 ERA in just 21.1 innings for the Bulls this past spring, but he’s missing more bats this summer, tallying 35 strikeouts and walking 13 in 21.2 innings. Ragsdale is an imposing figure on the mound. He looks thicker than his listed weight as well. Ragsdale has some serious projection, sitting 90-91 and up to 92 mph with his fastball, while also showing at least one slider at 78 mph. (K Rogers)
