Fanning was one of many two-way players who impressed at Preseason All-State. He is a lanky and lean 5-foot-11, 145 pounds.  In the infield, he has soft hands and displayed an average arm on throws to first. Offensively, his swing is simple. He keeps his hands back and lets the ball get deep. Average bat speed with a line drive approach at the plate. Fanning impressed the most on the mound where he was 81-84 mph with arm-side run. Fanning comes from the high ¾ arm slot and has a repeatable delivery to the plate. He added an above average changeup at 76-78 mph and a curveball at 71 mph.

Fanning is a 5-11 150 lb. outfielder that is long and rangy with ball skills of a center fielder. He has absolutely raked since he got here with a great eye and plus hands. Stays tall on the backside and gets behind the ball well. Quiet in the load and the front foot landing, Fanning's hands are just about the only parts of his body that move during his swing. He is one to watch in the future. On the mound, his fastball sat 79-81 and his changeup registered at 71-72. He is a low effort guy on the mound with a very relaxed delivery.

Uncommitted. Lean, fast twitch athlete. At 140 pounds he will only get better as he adds strength. Throws from a clean, natural 3/4 arm slot that works. Utilized a drop and drive delivery that creates good momentum down the hill. Pounds the zone fearlessly with all pitches. Fastball shows life at 79-82 mph and was thrown to both sides of the plate effectively. Slurvy breaking ball with late sharp sweeping action. Was able to throw it for strikes and down as an out pitch. Mixed in a couple changeups at 72 mph that were thrown with fastball armside. Although the pitch lacked depth in this look he located it down effectively. High energy, good competitor.

At 5-foot-10, 140 pounds he ran a 7.75 60 yard dash. He moves better than the run time in the infield, with a good first step. The hands work well, out in front of the body and the actions work defensively. Offensively, he has a simple, compact and level swing that will continue to improve with strength. On the mound he is also simple and mechanically sound. The fastball worked 72-75 mph with the curveball working 62-64 and the changup at 64-66 mph.
