08/25/18- Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot, 210 pounds with a solid, physical frame and strong lower half. Was one of the top performers throughout the weekend as he not only impressed behind the plate, but offensively as well. Behind the plate he shows strong hands and receives well while keeping everything in front of him, deadening pitches in the dirt. Throws to the bag are accurate and on line, topping out at 78 mph with pop times ranging from 1.92-2.01 seconds. Offensively, he shows strength throughout his swing with a level to uphill finish, driving the ball with authority. The ball jumps off the bat and creates hard contact every time he squares it up. During gameplay he crushed a ball deep over the left field wall for a home run that easily went 400+ feet. Also registered a 97 mph exit velocity in the cage. Bernstein was a big winner on the weekend and shouldn’t be uncommitted for too long as a catcher that shows present power at the plate with solid defensive ability behind it.
1/27/18- Uncommitted. Stocky build with present strength standing at 5-foot-11, 210 pounds. Physically works behind the plate with strong hands and accurate throws to the bag that topped out at 76 mph. Solid control of the run game. Offensively, he gets ball in the air and lets his strength go to work with present pull-side power. Creates hard, solid contact. Registered one of the top exit velocities at the event at 96 mph. Good follow for this spring an an uncommitted catcher with power at the plate.
03/14/17 - Uncommitted. Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 215 pounds with a solid, blocky build. Stood out behind the plate where he received well and showed a strong, accurate arm on his throws down to second which included throwing out one of the fastest base runners in the district. At the plate he shows strength and power in his swing as he made hard contact on the ball which included a strong double down the left field line and a home run over the left field wall.
