2/17/18- LSU recruit. Cabell continues to impress. He looks to have continued to fill out and get stronger , while maintaining his speed. He has plus bat speed and is more aggressive to loft and to the pull side. The ball really jumps off of his barrel as well and flashes plus power potential. He consistently ran in the 4.1-4.4 home to first times and tracks the ball down well in the outfield. The bat is the tool that has him in day one talks as there is true plus power potential.
10/18/17- Louisiana State recruit. Crushed a homerun off of the building in deep left-center field during the game. Easy power. Plus arm from the outfield with accuracy and carry on his throws. Takes efficient routes to the ball. There is big raw power and bat speed, the swing and miss is still there, but the raw power may be the best in the class.
7/10/17 - Named to Team USA 18U trials roster.
6/27/17 - Showed easy power in BP with one ball going over the trees in left field and about halfway up a light pole. The ball jumped off his bat he had two of the hardest hit balls on the day—a lineout to right field that was 103 and a single that was 108 off the bat.
6/27/16- LSU recruit. Currently ranked No. 4 in the 2018 class. The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder was impressive all weekend. Cabell has a strong lower half and stays in rhythm and on time throughout his swing. Cabell shows an advanced approach and drove balls into both gaps over the course of three games. He has great bat speed and feel for the barrel, consistently hitting the ball hard. The ball explodes off of his bat and sounds different than most anyone in his class. Not only was he impressive in the box, but he showed the ability to easily turn into another gear stretching what looked like a double into a stand-up triple.
6/14/16- LSU recruit. Currently ranked No. 2 in the Florida 2018 class, No. 4 overall. Athletic, projectable, live body on a 6-foot-2, 190 pound frame. Stands out in the outfield with a quick first step, good range, and the ability to track the ball well. Throws are on line with carry. Good awareness. Balanced in the box with a good leg kick for his load. Displays quick hands and plus bat speed at the plate with some present power. Drives his hips through the box. Ball really jumps off the bat and can drive the ball with authority. Put one over the Jet Blue Park wall to straightaway centerfield during batting practice.
4/18/16- Committed to Louisiana State University.
9/23/15 - 6-foot-1, 180 pound outfielder with a live athletic strong young body. Is really put together for such a young guy. Good instincts in OF with plenty of range and advanced arm strength. Throws have good carry. Very good bat speed with good strength and power. Will have big future power. Average ML power now. Good load with aggressive approach. Has a bit of a double hitch but is usually on time. Ball really jumps of his bat. Has a chance to become a 2018 draft. Smoked a double to deep left center field, stolen base, laid out for a diving catch in the outfield.
2020 DRAFT: Another Seminole draft-eligible sophomore who turned down significant pro interest as a prep, Cabell got off to a fast start this spring with seven home runs in his first 15 games. He showed a glimpse of the big-time raw power that intrigues the scouting industry. However, with the plus-plus raw power comes a lot of swing/miss. Cabell struck out in over 40% of his plate appearances as a freshman, and finished this spring at 39%; marks completely unusable in professional baseball. He does bring other strong tools to the game with a plus arm, above-average-to-plus speed underway and solid defensive play. Overall, time will tell if Cabell can make the needed adjustments at the plate to allow for more consistent contact. If so, he will become one of the premier bats and position players in college baseball and a top round prospect. If not, there is still plenty there for a club to take a later round "flier", but those type of picks will be limited in a shortened draft this summer.
3/10/20: Another Seminole draft-eligible sophomore who turned down significant pro interest as a a prep, Cabell is off to a fast start this spring with seven home runs in his first 15 games. He showed a little of the big-time raw power that intrigues the scouting industry by homering seven times last season as a freshman. However, with the plus-plus raw power comes a lot of swing/miss. Cabell struck out in over 40% of his plate appearances as a freshman, and so far this spring he sits at 36%; a mark completely unusable in professional baseball. He does bring other tools to the game with a plus arm, above-average-to-plus speed underway and solid defensive play, despite misjudging an end-of-the-bat fly ball that dropped in front of him allowing two runs to score with two out in Saturday’s game against Duke. He read the angle and bat speed of the swing correctly, but he just floated back a few steps before realizing the ball was hit off the end and would not carry. Overall, time will tell if Cabell can make the needed adjustments at the plate to allow for more consistent contact. If so, he will become one of the premier bats and position players in college baseball and a top round prospect. If not, there is still plenty there for a club to take a mid-round “flier.” (Seifert)
