5/21/16- Uncommitted junior who stands at 6-foot, 200 pounds with a strong and stalky frame with a wide back and athleticism. He is ranked 83rd in Florida and is one of the top uncommitted catchers in the class. He has gradually improved over the last year as his 60 has now dropped to a 7.44, his pop time is consistently in the 2.00-2.10 range, and his bat (his best tool) is as good as ever. Behind the plate his transfer and release are very quick and he has a short, over the top arm action. His throws are online and accurate and he has enough arm to stay behind the plate. Offensively, he has a strong base, some rhythm, and uses his lower half well. He gets a small separation for his load and he has a nice swing plane through the zone. He has an easy swing and possesses gap power.
2/26/16 - 6-foot, 190 pound catcher with a blocky strong body. Solid receiver with arm strength when he throws off of his backside. Occasionally gets out front on his release and ball dies. Takes charge. Is a leader behind the dish. Plays with confidence. Strength and quickness in the bat. Swing has some length but barrel stays in the zone with bat speed. Has power to both gaps. Physical guy. 1-3 tonight with a hard hit single to left field.
8/5/15 - 6-foot, 190 pound catcher with a strong athletic young body. Solid receiver with mobility to block balls in dirt. Quick release with accurate throws. Quick hands with a short quick high ¾ slot. Stays in line to target. Loose quick bat with low hands and a leg kick. Aggressive approach at the plate. Good bat speed with a good bat path. Barrel stays in zone. Stays inside ball well. Uses the whole field. Good balanced finish. Makes a lot of hard contact. Shows power in both gaps. Ran a 7.82 60. 86 mph exit bat speed velocity. 2.02 pop time with a catchers velocity of 75 mph. Will be a good division one player.
6/23/15 - 6-foot, 185 pound catcher with a strong athletic young body. Solid receiver with mobility to block balls in dirt. Quick release with accurate throws. Quick hands with a short quick high ¾ slot. Stays in line to target. Front foot hitter with aggressive approach at the plate. Hips occasionally drift. Long loose swing with a good bat path. Barrel stays in zone. Stays inside ball well. Uses the whole field. Good balanced finish. Occasionally releases top hand on finish. Makes a lot of hard contact. Shows power in both gaps. Ran a 7.82 60. 86 mph exit bat speed velocity. 2.03 pop time with a catchers velocity of 75 mph. 6/14/15- 6 feet 190 pounds with an athletic and strong body. Quick transfer and release from behind the plate. Short, over the top arm action. Fringy ML arm and a 2.0 pop time. Good rhythm at the plate and gets a nice separation for his load. Has good leverage in his wing, a nice swing plane, and gap power.
