04/06/17- Tampa recruit. Currently ranked No. 39 in the Florida 2017 Class, No. 149 Overall. Long limbs and wiry strength on a projectable build standing at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds. Quick arm throwing out of the high ¾ slot. He throws exclusively out of the stretch with a big leg kick before his delivery. Showed some better extension out in front, occasionally can fall off to the side on his follow through. Tarnok worked a quick first inning where he retired the side in order displaying a fastball that sat 92-93 mph with life, touching 94 and 96 once along with a 74-76 mph curveball and a 77-78 mph change up. In the second he was mostly 91-93, touching 94. In the third he came out sitting 90-93 but showed a better feel for the breaking ball as he got deeper into the game. The curveball showed some better depth and spin with a 12/6 action as he threw it a little harder at 76-77 and was able to generate some swings and misses from it. For his final inning of work he was mostly 90-91, but touched 93 a couple times. Tarnok is still a little raw on the mound and will need to improve on his secondary stuff, but the arm strength and projectability is there to make him a very interesting follow as the Draft approaches in June. He finished his night with six strikeouts and one run allowed on three hits.
11/09/16- Committed to the University of Tampa.
5/21/16- South Florida recruit, currently ranked No. 49 in Florida’s 2017 class, No. 170 overall. 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame, wiry build with sneaky strength, long limbs, plenty of room for continued physical development. Raw athlete, high-ceiling two-way prospect. On the mound, delivered arguably the most dominant pitching performance at the ProCase. Works exclusively out of the stretch, over-the-top slot, long on the backside, deceptively fast arm. Generated lots of swings and misses with 90-91 mph fastball that had natural late hard cut on four-seamer, and occasional sharp sink on two-seamer. Both fastballs were similar velocities. Also flashed occasional 75-76 mph curveball with sharp 12/6 bite. In game, he struck out the first three batters he faced. Positionally, moves well for size, evidenced by his 6.99 laser-timed 60. At shortstop, shows reliable hands, fields the ball deep, solid carry across the infield at 85 mph. Offensively raw, took inconsistent rounds of BP but showed pull-side pop. Fast hands, rotational approach, arm-bar load, length in swing.
3/14/16- 6-foot-3, 180-pound USF recruit with an athletic, projectable, live body. Loose, quick arm action out of the high ¾ arm slot. Works quickly. Featured a fastball with some late life that sat 87-89 mph with run and touched 90 mph a couple times. Fastball was still hovering around 87, 88 into the 4th inning. Curveball was 73-74 with decent spin and shape. Still a bit raw on the mound, some minor mechanical flaws with falling off to the side and repeating delivery consistently. Showed athleticism by fielding the balls well off the mound along with a quick pickoff move. Exited the game after 4 innings by allowing only one hit and striking out seven.
2/25/16- 6-foot-3, 180-pound USF recruit with projectable, live body. Usually plays SS but came into the game to close for an inning and featured a fastball that sat 87-89 mph and touched 90 mph. Ball jumps out of his hand. Athlete.
2/18/16- South Florida commit who stands at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds with a long, lean, athletic, and projectable body. Smooth and effortless actions all over the field. He shows soft hands at SS with a loose, above average arm throwing across the diamond. At the plate he is quiet and gets a separation and hand trigger for his load. He has a smooth, flat swing through the zone and gets great leverage with his long arms and legs. Hard line drives to all fields and more power to come with strength and maturity.
