One of the top arms for the college draft class of 2025 made the start for the Noles on Friday. Jamie Arnold has Josh Hader characteristics with a low arm slot and electric fastball. The competitive lefty touched 96 with his heater and mixed a nasty 86-87 mph sweeper of a breaking ball. What separates Arnold from others with this type of stuff is Arnold’s advanced ability to pitch. Look for him to begin high on industry draft follow lists this fall.
9/01/23
Cape Cod: After getting his feet wet with 44 innings (and a 6.34 ERA) as a freshman last spring at FSU, Arnold put together a breakout summer for Hyannis, finishing with a 2.79 ERA and a 21-8 K-BB mark in 19.1 innings. An athletic 6-foot-1, 195-pounder with a funky low-three-quarters slot, Arnold’s calling card is the big-time armside life on his fastball which usually sits in the low 90s and can bump 94. He also mixes in a good sweeping slider and is working on his changeup. Expect Arnold to use his all-star turn on the Cape as a springboard to a big sophomore year for the Seminoles.
