05/20/18- Uncommitted, standing at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, he has continued to become leaner while maintaining strength, especially in the lower half. His run time is average at 7.17, but the athleticism plays up in the middle as he has a quality first step and shows ability to range to both hand and glove side. He really trusts his hands and the feet work in sync, working with rhythm to and through the ball. The footwork and frame seem to project better at third, where he projects as a well above average defender. The offense is much improved. The swing has become much more compact and showed well in both BP and the game. He took a polished BP, working from gap-to-gap with hard line drives. This translated to single and a barreled out to right field. As the bat continues to progress and becomes more consistent, should see added power. Defense is very solid and offense is trending in the right direction.
1/27/18- Uncommitted, 6-foot-2, 185 pounds. Defensively he continues to stand out. He showed above average all around actions. There is a natural feel and rhythm, could improve the lateral mobility, but natural feel for the position has his I'm the right spot. Offensively, while there is still some length and rotation in the swing, it has continued to shorten in its path. When he's connected and direct to the ball, the ball jumps off of the barrel, especially to the pull side. If he starts consistently short, you can see above average power potential.
08/06/17- De Leon who was a standout at last year’s Underclass Games, he was one of the more impressive players during the workout portion. He shows advanced to plus defensive actions. He has natural instincts in the middle, with a quick first step and plenty of range with soft hands and a quick transfer. Offensively, he has rhythm and uses a strong lower half to generate present pull side power. He can get long at times in games, but the swing and actions all work and should continue to improve. He may get to big and strong for short, but would be a plus defensive third baseman with power potential.
03/22/17 - The athletic, plus fielding infielder was playing third this evening and looked every bit the part. He made multiple impressive plays and shows range and a plus arm. He has shown the ability at past events to be an above average with plus potential defender at short and would expect him to slide over when Villamen graduates. Offensively, the swing and path have always worked, but seemed a bit light in the past. He seems to have put on some strength and the ball jumped off of the barrel. Overall, he can really pick the baseball and looks to stay at short while also continuing to improve and projects offensively as well.
9/17/16 - The 6-foot, 155 pound shortstop showed extremely good footwork and smooth actions. He showed soft hands with a very quick first step and the ability to make all of the plays at a premiere position. His arm has potential to play from the left side and will continue to improve based on his frame and athleticism. At the plate, the right handed hitter has some quick twitch actions with a level swing path through the zone. He would get a little long at times, but consistently found the barrel both in batting practice and the games. As he continues to get strong and log more at-bats, the swing should become shorter and lend to gap-to-gap power as his frame is athletic and projectable with plenty of room to fill out. Expect him to be a high end talent, especially as the bat continues to progress. He has the makeup to be a very high end defensive shortstop in his future.
