A Coastal Carolina transfer the 6-foot strong bodied outfielder blazed his way to a scout day best 6.40 sixty to start the day then showed a near average arm from the outfield. Westfall is a plus athlete with aggressive defensive actions. At the plate he wraps the bat head and is flat through the zone with average bat speed. Line drive hitter who will need to rely more on his foot speed than his power to get extra bases. With three solid tools in run/throw/defend, his prospect value will rise or fall, directly tied to his hit ability the remainder of the fall and next spring.
05/20/18- Texas Tech recruit. The 6-foot, 170 pound outfielder is a plus athlete and plus runner, running a 6.45 60 yard dash. Defensively, he is a plus route runner in the outfield, he covers an enormous amount of ground efficiently. He has a short arm action, topping out at 84 mph. Offensively, the right-handed hitter has a short, simple swing. The stride can be short at times, creating some steepness in the path. As he continues to get into the lower half, he has present bat speed, with an exit velocity topping out at 90 mph. With a double in the game, there is present bat to ball skill and the athleticism will lend itself to make some adjustments to best utilize the present bat speed. The plus speed is a true plus tool and makes him a high follow for 2019.
6/6/17- A righty swinger that starts in an athletic setup. Loading sequence is fluid and efficient. Flashed noticeable bat speed through the zone on a most level path. Ball comes off his bat much better than frame would suggest. Consistently drove the ball with authority in batting practice, producing backspin to his pull side. In the outfield he looks athletic and confident. Plays through the ball well and is clean mechanically. Throws from an over the top slot and the ball comes out of his hand well. Small, speedy type outfielder. Shows the skill set to play centerfield at the next level. Good anticipation and aggressive to the ball. Fields the ball to outside of glove foot and maintains momentum. Shows coordination and the ability to adjust with his glove on the bad bounce. Small crow hop with quick transfer.
