4/1/16 (IMG Classic)- 6-foot, 220 pound Central Florida recruit with brute strength on a thick, strong body. Threw out of the high ¾ arm slot with high effort along with a quick arm. Lands out in front. Fastball mostly sat 90-91 mph with downward tilt and at times touched 92 throughout his outing. Fastball was still up to 90 mph into the fifth inning. Slider had some depth that sat 80-83 mph but wasn’t as sharp as we’ve seen before. Curveball was 72-75 mph with good depth and shape. Mixed his pitches well, command was just okay on the day but still found a way to strike out seven in his five innings of work. Also came in for relief later on in the week where his fastball mostly sat 90-92 mph and primarily used his 79-82 mph slider that had good depth and cutting action, looked much better than earlier on in the week, sharper. Strong, durable arm.
2/2/16 - Central Florida commit. 6-foot, 220 pound 3B/RHP with a thick strong mature body with raw bone strength. Decent actions with good hands and feet for a big guy. Short quick arm with above average arm strength. Below average range and body control. Aggressive approach at the plate with good bat speed and strength. Above average power with lift in swing. Good feel for the strike zone. Went 1-2 with a 3 run home run. Also smoked a deep line drive to center field where he got robbed on a great catch by the centerfielder. On the mound, he threw one inning where he was max effort with a very quick arm at an over hand slot Fastball was 90-93 mph and downhill when out front. Slider was a tight ¾ breaker with depth at 79-81 mph. He dropped his arm slot to throw it but also threw a curveball that he stayed on top of, that was a downer with good depth at 76 mph. Both were plus pitches. Throws a lot of strikes with all pitches. Aggressive. Attacks strike zone. Should become a 2016 draft.
11/10/15- 6-foot, 220-pounder with a thick, strong build. Central Florida recruit. During the game his fastball sat 88-90 mph with movement and bumped 91. Changeup was 79-81 mph with similar arm action to his fastball. Curveball was 75-77 with shape and looping action. Pounds the strike zone. At the plate, just missed on a couple pitches, but the power and bat speed are present.
6/19/15 - Central Florida commit. 6-foot, 225 pound third baseman. Thick blocky mature body with strength and quickness in bat. Above average ML power with good bat speed. Has lift in swing. Aggressive approach. Good actions at third base with limited range and an above average ML arm. Moves well for a bigger guy. Ran a 7.25 60.
1/27/15 Stocky thick wide country strong mature body. Is a 2 way guy. On the mound he had an OH arm slot with a max effort compact delivery. Good arm speed with some tilt to his FB at 87-88 mph. Short in back, hides ball, lands in line, keeps head on target. Likes to throw the SL at 81-83 mph. At times it's a plus ML pitch with a short tight cut action to it with depth. Also spins the CV well at 74-76 mph. It's a big breaking downer with depth that is at times an avg ML pitch. Has arm strength with very good secondary stuff that he throws for strikes.
Normally plays 3B but caught today without much experience and looked to me like he had a chance to play there. Needs a lot of work but has the body type for that position and plenty of arm strength. Hands are good enough but needs work on his set up. He tried to be too quick and hurry on his release to 2B and doesn't need to. Moved well for a big guy. Blocked several balls. Has the tools to become a good catcher but currently is a work in progress. Is an offensive guy with good bat speed and strength, above avg ML power. Will be interesting to follow.
