Physical 6-foot-3 southpaw with upside. He sat 80-84 mph in his five innings, and the fastball was tough on both lefties and righties. Bentz hides the ball well and gets on top of it, generating arm-side run. He didn't throw the breaking ball much, but it flashed sharp/late on occasion, 70-72 mph, and has the makings of becoming an out-pitch – especially to left-handed bats – as he continues to find the feel for it.
08/25/18- A physical two-way player, the 2018 Future Games participant continues to be intriguing for school. He has a great 6-foot-3, 199 pound frame. The left handed swing has natural strength and loft. On the mound, he shows an above average feel to manipulate the baseball and feel to pitch with more velocity to come. Will continue to be an interesting follow.
08/04/18- The 6-foot-3, 198 pound LHP/1B has a strong, lean frame with strength throughout. Offensively, he has a wide, balanced base with a strong lower half. He has a natural uphill path, there can be some length at times, but creates leverage and uses his present strength for pull side power. Had a single against Team Select and showed several other quality at-bats. On the mound he works from an offset stretch. The delivery is simple and he repeats it well. The fastball ranged from 79-82 mph, but he shows advanced feel to manipulate the pitch between a four seam, two seam and sinker, creating a lot of weak contact. The curveball has depth to it, working 61-64 mph, the pitch will need to get a little firmer, but shows quality shape and has a feel for the pitch. Also showed a 75 mph change. Overall, he has deception and feel and as he continues to mature and add strength, velocity will come. He made a quality impression as an intriguing two-way prospect to follow.
07/28/18- Uncommitted. Tall, projectable frame standing at 6-foot-3, 196 pounds. Offensively, he showed some natural loft and power potential from the left side, there is some length, but also natural strength. Also had a balanced and strong lower half. On the mound, he works from an offset stretch. He has a high leg kick and high front side which create some deception. The arm works fairly clean and gets to extension, working downhill. The fastball worked 77-78 mph, while the changeup was his best offspeed pitch showing feel at 73-74 mph. He tended to get around the curveball and will improve as he gets to extension and begins to throw the pitch somewhat harder than the 61-62 mph. Overall, there is upside and struck out one in his inning of work.
