Cantrell’s quick arm allowed for his 80-83 fastball to jump on hitters at the plate while showcasing some natural arm side run. His projectable, 6-foot-2, 156-pound frame promises to hold more strength in the future, and with that should also come a jump in velocity. Releasing out of a high ¾ slot with some whip, Cantrell steps slightly across his body towards the plate. His front side was inconsistent at times, but he was still able to get extension towards the plate, and received multiple swings and misses on his fastball. The breaking ball takes more sweeping, 2/8 shape with tighter spin, and I also watched him mix in a changeup in warmups that showed fading action in the zone. However, the life on the fastball, and the quickness of the arm are what currently standout, and as he continues to build on his projectable frame, Cantrell looks like he may become one of the better arms in Georgia.
