The 2020 medium build prospect from Upson-Lee high school, is a good all around baseball player. On the mound he is an obvious strike thrower, using a simple repeatable delivery. His arm swing is similar to most guys that catch and double as a pitcher. He starts from a high handset, giving his a shorter arm swing and delivers the ball from a high- slot. He does not possess overpowering stuff, but has feel to use it and goes after hitters. He can sink his fastball at (77-80) when down and shows the ability to get to both sides of the plate. Shows the ability to spin the ball with good shape and rotation, his curveball ranged from 67-69 and is an effective offering when he is on time and in sync. As with most high school kids McDaniel change is a distant third pitch, but executes the pitch out of the same window as his fastball and shows solid deception when located down in the zone. Behind the plate McDaniel has an interesting skill set. He receives the ball well and shows a balanced set-up, making him an easy guy to deliver the ball too. McDaniel showed a consistent pop time sitting between a respectable 2.13 to 2.16. His velocity was also consistent at 74 mph. As a hitter McDaniel starts from a good balanced straight away stance with his hands at his shoulder. Showing the ability to get on plane with the baseball and has good rhythm. At times he will get to his front side too much and bat drags, but when he stays compact and his foot gets down on time, the ball jumps off his bat. He had a 87 mph exit velocity at the games.
