5/7/18- RHP Cooper Stinson (Norcross HS, GA) is a Duke recruit with a large frame at 6-foot-6, 240 pounds. Given his commitment and the fact that his brother is currently a Blue Devil, he probably won’t be an easy sign, but he flashed the stuff to warrant a serious look on Sunday. His fastball was 90-93 with heavy life and he flashed a swing-and-miss slider at 85-87. It had short, cutter-like break at times, but others were wipeout offerings. He also mixed in a changeup at 84-85. He struck out four in two innings and allowed a triple.
3/10/20:Stinson is an extra-large bodied righty with arm strength and a fastball up to 92 mph on this look. He’s a strong, slower-twitch athlete who relies on brute strength to overpower the baseball and deliver a FB spin rate topping at 2508 rpm. He finished hitters with a high-spin slider in the 2500-2600s at 82-83 mph or by throwing his FB downhill and spotting to a corner. He also mixed in an occasional 87-88 mph split in the 1600 rpm range. (Seifert)
