Schmidt took some really good swings on Friday night to cap off the week. He transfers weight well through the zone at contact and lived on the barrel. Does a good job keeping the barrel in the zone for a long time and shows juice to all fields. Athletic in the box with a slight leg kick that generates strength from the ground up. Shows really good balance in the lower half with the ability to recognize and adjust to breaking balls. In the field, he showed good range with accuracy in the arm. Could play all around the diamond, but just needs more reps and experience to stick at SS. Projects as a versatile defender with the offensive upside to impact the game in multiple ways.

6-foot 145-pounds. First look at Schmidt, and he put together some really competitive at bats, and flashed a strong glove in the infield. He has a simple approach at the plate, and showed some present, pulled side power. He stays through the middle of the field with an up the middle approach, and keeps the barrel through the zone. The frame is going to continue to develop, and will be a good follow the next few years.
