Phelps

Georgia Commit. More physical at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds with advanced athleticism that allows him to move nimbly on the infield, Phelps’ athleticism carries over to the plate where he shows some twitch from the right side. More direct in his path with quick hands, he utilizes the whole field for some firm contact, and is able to work counts into his favor, including battling from behind. Phelps had a standout week at the Area Code Games last month. He consistently took quality at-bats, and as always, he brought his exuberant energy to the diamond.

Positional Profile: SS/3B
Body: 6-2, 200-pounds. High level athlete with a strong build, more physicality to come as he continues to mature.
Hit: RHH. Balanced, slightly open setup, hands load back smoothly, short stride, good balance, quiet rhythm. Barrel path is long to the zone, elite hand and bat speed allow for him to get extension and drive balls to all fields, back spins fly balls, major power to pull-side, low effort throughout.
Power: 101.09 max exit velocity, averaged 89.45 mph. 378.00’ max distance. Easy, low effort power.
Arm: RH. INF - 85.00 mph. Long, loose arm action to a 3/4 slot, elite arm speed, throws carry with ease.
Defense: Athletic fielder, rangey to both sides, soft glove, quick hands and exchanges, great body control, made several nice throws on the run.
Run: 6.80 runner in the 60. 

6-foot-2 175-pounds. Uber athletic kid, good frame, strong at the plate. A well rounded player that has good actions at SS. At a great weekend offensively, showed the ability to hit for contact, and for power. Just missed a HR in one AB. High baseball IQ, manages the game well at SS. Puts pressure on the defense when he runs the bases.
