Indiana commit. Mittiga did a little bit of everything for the Bulldogs and he led them to a Sweet 16 sweep. Set the tone of the mound during game one as he tossed a complete game shutout across 7.0 IP with 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K in a win. Controls the pace and possesses a bulldog mentality on the bump with feel for the deep mix from a deceptive low slot. Fastball creates arm-side run at 85-87 (T88 MPH) and mixes a sinker off it with heavy sink and run to either half of the plate at 83-85. Cutter was tunneled with sharp bite and induced plenty of in-between whiffs on the outer half to righties at 79-80. Advanced feel for the slider at 75-75 with ability to manipulate and add/subtract depth and sweep. Mittiga lives for the moment and fills a multitude of roles for the Bulldogs as he picked up a trio of hits at the plate as well. Gets the front foot down in the trigger and stays balanced with length in-zone from an on-plane path. Loose hands stand out with excellent barrel feel and ability to match plane in a line-drive oriented approach to the pull-side. Actions stood out behind the plate as he caught game two of the series. Present athleticism in the crouch with above-average blocking and receiving skills alike. Mittiga yields swiss-army knife type production for Head Coach Moity and staff as he is armed with the type of profile that can carry a squad in the playoffs.
