Game Performance

Notes

Comments

3/11/24
Uncommitted. 6-foot-2 185-pounds. We have been able to follow Sexton over the last few years, and he just keeps progressing. Physically, he is bigger and stronger, leading to an up tick in fastball velo. This time last year he knocked off Cherokee Bluff to give them their first loss of the season. He was sitting 78-82, and last night he was 82-85. An impressive jump in just a years time. He is a competitor on the mound, challenging guys early in counts. He can land off speed for strikes consistently, allowing the fastball to be that much more effective. He thrives in pressure situations, and knows how to manage the game well even when runners are on base. He worked out of multiple situations that could have led to East Forsyth run very easily.
6/01/23

Uncommitted. 6-foot 2, 185-pounds. Sexton commanded the zone with all three of his pitches. He attacked hitters in the count which allowed him to be efficient. His fastball sat 80-82 with arm side run. Slurve started on the same plane as the fastball creating a lot of ugly swings. Sexton had lots of success striking batters out left and right. He will be a fun prospect to follow in the next few months rolling into the next couple of years. Has the potential to create a lot of buzz around his name.

4/07/23

Uncommitted 6-foot 170-pounds. Sexton handed the Bears their first loss of the ‘23 season. He gave up 2 hard hit balls all night, and controlled the game the entire time. He had the hitters guessing, and displayed some real competitiveness for a freshman that was not afraid of the moment. He challenged the hitters with 3 pitches in the zone, and knew exactly what he wanted to throw at all times. His most effective pitch was the fastball up. He was throwing that pitch in the perfect spot for swing and miss. His fastball was 80-82 with sink/run and mixed in a curveball at 69-71 and a change up at 72-73. He managed the game well with great tempo, and was not affected with runners on base. Sexton has some of the best pitch ability in the class, and will only go up from here. He will  be a high follow throughout the summer, and will be the ace for North Hall for the next 3 years.

2/28/23

6-foot 175-pounds. Sexton was a standout arm at the youth level this past spring. Now at the varsity level he is already starting to make an impact for one of the top programs in the state year in and year out. He has cleaned up his delivery,  which resulted in a velocity jump from the summer. He has always thrown strikes, so now the breaking ball will bel that much more of a weapon with a high fastball velocity. His fastball was up to 83 with heavy arm side run. He commands the outer half of the zone, which is one of the hardest spots for a right handed hitter to hit. He uses the slurve like breaking ball to disrupt timing, and will throw it back foot to rightys. He only had 1 inning of work, so we will look forward to catching him again in region play later in the year.
