Georgia Southern Commit. 6-foot-2, 210-pounds. Schmidt, with a big physical frame, had a solid performance against plus pitching from Houston County in the State Championship. He put together Quality at-bats after quality at-bats all night with the majority of them ending with loud barrels from the left side of the plate. Schmidt has quick hand speed and bat control that allows him to get to any pitch in the zone. His slow progressing load starts with a small toe tap to really get him into his hips and legs, which creates his gap to gap power. He keeps his hands and hips connected well which allows him to utilize all of his power. Schmidt doesn’t get pull happy and keeps his approach looking to the opposite field, that keeps his shoulder in and allows his quick hands to adjust to the inside pitch.
