Uncommitted. The lean athletic 6-foot, 150-pound RHP was electric to close the game out against Team Florida. Going two-scoreless innings with three strikeouts. The FB sat 86-89 and ran it up to 90 MPH with heavy arm-side run. The curveball was shown at 77-78 holding shape and creating depth making for some ugly swings-and-misses. Mixed in the change-up at 81-82. The arm-speed stands out for the incoming junior as the RHP will be a name to know as the frame continues to fill out.

Uncommitted. Nitkowski got the start in game 3 against region opponent River Ridge. He started off the 1st with 3 strikeouts, and ended up having 9 for the game. He tossed 6 innings of 1 run ball, and held strong throughout. The fastball was 83-85, topping out at 86. He saw a lefty heavy line up at the top, and went to the change up early that had really good shape, fading away from them. The curveball was really impressive in the low 70’s and really fooled hitters, getting a lot of swing and miss, especially when he started it at the bottom of the zone, and let it break out of it. He has a naturally strong arm with tons of life in it. The velo will continue to climb with added strength to the frame. The 2 way sophomore is going to be exciting to follow the next few years.

6-foot 145-pounds. Nitkowski has been on the radar since early spring when he got the call up to pitch on varsity at the Georgia Dugout Club event. The actions have always been there, even at 13u and 14u in tournaments at LakePoint. He has shot up in height and is now filling out the frame. He was called on in a tie game for a couple innings in relief. You can tell he loves the big moments, and thrives on competition. He ran one of his fastballs up to 87, and was 84-85 most the outing. He controlled the tempo of the game, and pounded the bottom half of the zone. He has a quick pace delivery that plays perfectly with his arm action. The curveball is sharp, and will only tick up in velo adding even more spin. Luke will be a fun one to watch at NPI this week, and into next spring where he should have a starting role in MIF and on the mound.
