2/24/19: Another impressive athlete with tools and a high ceiling, and like Mitchell needs experience to polish his hitting approach. It reminds me of Javy Baez. Very aggressive at the plate with a loose and whippy barrel action. Loads well with stride and hands. Big bat tilt making it more difficult to repeat the swing path and control the barrel, however this should improve as he fills out and continues to develop strength. During the game, he drifted to the ball with his upper body and pushed the barrel to the ball too much. During batting practice (when he knows what is coming) he stays back and attacks the ball which leads me to believe his current weakness is with pitch recognition. Possesses good hand/eye, but needs to develop a better plan at the plate and understand what the pitcher is doing to get him out. Defensively, he all the tools to be a plus defender at the hot corner, including good reactions and an above average-to-plus arm. He is also a plus runner underway. If Serratos can slow down the game and turn his tools into greater performance, he will be considered for Day One in 2020. (Seifert)
4/10/18: Freshman Oscar Serratos is an athletic third baseman with a live body. He brought tremendous energy to the Tech lineup while also showing good bat speed and a plus arm. (Seifert)
