Ole Miss commit. High-waisted, lanky frame at 6-foot-3, 165-pounds. On the mound, works at a very fast pace, getting right back on the mound after treceiving the ball from his catcher, stays ready to go and locked in at all times. ¾ circle action with an over-the-top slot, lightning quick arm speed from a steep angle. Predominately used his FB during outing, sitting 89-91 with explosiveness out of his hand, located in any quadrant and generated several s/m and uncomfortable ABs against a potent lineup. Also flashed a CB at 79-80, completely fooling hitters as it comes from the same slot as FB before snapping off its sharp break. A top-five arm in the state.
6/11/22
Hancock’s explosive arm talent and projectable 6-foot-3, 165-pound frame were on full display at the NPI. The Mississippi recruit went four dominant innings, striking out five and giving up just three hits and a run against a talented lineup. Wiry-athletic with an uptempo delivery, the right-hander demonstrates impressive ability to backspin the baseball, and worked 90-92 early on with what appears to be even more velocity coming in a hurry. Killing spin on a quality changeup at 84 mph (1671 rpm), Hancock was able to counter the fastball well, and while the slider was inconsistent and still developing, it was spun with conviction, and showed signs of trending up in the future. Overall, the upside of Hancock presents one of the more intriguing arms in the class, and as the frame fills out, look for him to be followed closely
