Victor Scott popped onto the scene this summer out at the PBR North Georgia Trials, showing sneaky power and running a 6.51 in the 60-yard dash. he committed to West Virginia shortly after his performance at the event and has started to climb onto the radars of some MLB teams this spring. All of this attention has been good for the 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect and Coco Crisp lookalike. But Scott appears to be pressing a bit at the plate trying to do too much right now. When Scott is playing loose and to his skillset, he can use the field and his speed to create problems for the opposing team. As the weather starts to warm up, look for Scott to do the same.
6/29/18- Medium framed scat back-type athlete who ran an event-best 6.50 60-yard dash. Low center of gravity with good first step and easy strides. He shows a strong arm (85 mph) from the outfield with good carry. Arm-stroke is clean and offers projection. Definite center fielder at the next level. Offensively, he has a good stroke with bat-speed and shows feel for barrel. Ball jumps off bat and has sneaky pop (88 mph exit velo). Scott does not engage his front side as much as he could and can get uphill at times trying to do too much. As he gets to his front side more, power has a chance to surprise some people. Minor adjustments at the plate will pay big dividends to a swing that is already solid. Always fun to see impact speed at a premium position from a young man who does some good things with the bat in his hands.
Summer 2020:Yet another toolsy, athletic outfielder for the Dock Spiders, Scott is an impact defender with plus to better range in center field. The 6-foot, 185-pound lefty hitter is a plus-plus runner underway who will also show above average arm strength with good accuracy and above average raw power. At the plate he has a pull approach and profiles as a power over hit prospect who will be able to stay in center field. Currently, Scott has produced a .270/.347/.450 slash with four home runs and eight doubles in 111 at-bats this summer to go along with 12 walks and 28 strikeouts.
