2017 Spring Scout Blog:  The Northwest Florida State recruit and PBR Daft 100 prospect was even more impressive than his previous outing where he was 90-93, touching 94 multiple times.  In last night's opening round sectional contest vs. rival Logansport, the 6-foot-3, 193 pounder threw his first three fastballs at 95 mph, his next two at 93 mph, then hit 96 mph for a strike.  The velocity, which earlier this spring was up and down, has held the last two games.  Last night he settled in at 92-93, touching 95 through the first three innings.  In the 4th-6th innings was 90-92, still bumping an occasional 93 and a 94.  From the stretch he was anywhere from 88-92.  He threw his slider often at 78-80, many showing sharp break and in the zone getting many swing an misses and called strikes.  Ferguson finished the night going 6 innings with 11K, 4H, 2BB and 1ER.  With these last two starts, Ferguson has moved back to No. 1 in Indiana's class of 2017 player rankings.

4/11/17:  GAME NOTES -
No.1 ranked 6-foot-3, 190 pound long limbed right-handed pitcher held 89-91 touching 92 throughout his 9 strikeout, complete game performance against #9 Kokomo.  Continues to impress with athleticism on the mound.  Very quick hand accelerates from a long arm action.  Stride is slightly short, hips are quick.  Repeatable tall to fall delivery.  Fastball is commanded at the knees with the ability to climb up the ladder.  Breaking ball was much improved as he drew countless swing and misses in and out of the zone.  Late depth while sitting 77-79mph with the slider helped him pile up the strikeouts.  Has feel for it early in the count as well.  Fierce competitor on the mound.  Wants the ball in his hand.  Northwest Florida State JC commit.

Feb 2017 Super 60:
Northwest Florida State JC recruit. 6-foot-3, 193-pound right-handed pitcher, highly athletic build, long limbs with wiry strength, plenty of room for continued physical development; high level of projection in the frame. Premium athlete, standout performer in basketball. Athleticism translates on the mound. Extremely loose and quick arm, works from a high-¾ slot, length on the backside, fast hand out front. Smooth, athletic delivery, everything works with little effort. Fastball sat 90-91 out of the windup, 88-90 from the stretch with arm-side life and occasional sink. Threw consistent strikes with fastball. Worked changeup at 80-82 mph with sinking action, pounded the lower half of the strike zone with it; vastly improved pitch. Slider ranged between 73-77 mph, erratic action, 11/5 shape, short break, tendency to get around pitch. Throws a firm knuckleball, too, at 76-78 mph with some tumbling action. Overall, Ferguson showcased tantalizing upside with high-ceiling potential.

10/8/16:
Northwest Florida State recruit, currently ranked No. 1 in Indiana, 25th overall.  The 6-foot-3 190 pound long limbed righty impressed a handful of eyes during his start leading up to Jupiter.  Fastball held 87-90, touching 91 on occasion.  Hard, late run on the fastball helped him draw weak contact through 4 shutout innings.  Breaking ball showcased occasional sharp break with the ability to throw it for a strike in any count.  Ferguson is starting to unlock his extremely high ceiling showing feel for multiple pitches in the zone.  The frame and arm speed will continually attract next level eyes as the highly touted righty develops.

6/25/16 TOS:
As projectable as they come when he steps on the mound. At 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, Ferguson features extremely long, wiry limbs, and has the type of athleticism that made him a 20-point-per-game scorer in hoops. His arm works long and loosely with a fast hand. His best days are definitely in front of him, but presently was good, too. His fastball ranged between 87-90 in the first, 85-87 in the second inning, with a mid-70s breaking ball. Although at times he struggles with a consistent release point, his upside is certainly tantalizing. In two innings, he surrendered two runs, one hit, struck out one with no walks and one hit batsman.
5/25/16 Game Notes: The righty sat 86-88 in the first three innings of work, touching 90 on occasion. Throughout his last four innings was 84-87, up to 89.  Breaking ball was 75-78 with 10/4 shape. Gave up 1 unearned run in a complete game performance.  Allowed 5 hits, 0 walks and struck out 3.

2/20/16: 6-foot-3, 185 pounder pitches from a high ¾ slot with quick arm speed.  Tall to fall delivery with easy effort and smooth rhythm.  Level shoulders, athletic finish.  Fastball showed run at 88-89.  Breaking ball has an 11/5 shape with late bite at 71-73.  Changeup was 75-79. High projectability, tons of athleticism.

12/5/15: Highly projectable right hander, stands in at 6-foot-3, 185 pounds.  Strong, athletic frame.  Pitches from a high ¾ slot with lightening quick arm speed.  Smooth rhythm, uphill shoulders.  Good direction, athletic finish.  Fastball gets on you quick at 86-88, lots of life.  Sharp breaking ball with an 11/5 shape thrown for a strike at 74-75; potential plus pitch.  Knuckle ball sits at 77-78, thrown hard with lots of movement and kept in the zone.  Changeup sat 81-83 with occasional sink.  High follow in the 2017 class. Recently named the No. 1 player in Indiana's 2017 class.

Fall 2015: 6-foot-1, 185 pounder with a live arm.  Fastball sits in the 88-89 range, topping out at 92.  Serviceable breaking ball with more of a slurvey action at 73-78.  Changeup shows some cut at 73-75
