Parkland Scout Day: Athletic bodied righty at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds. Loose arm, clean arm action with full/long path to a 3/4 release point. Good direction and pitching lines to the plate with upright finish and below average extension out front. High spin fastball up to 91 mph, sitting mostly 89-90. Very good feel for 76-79 mph curveball. Tight spin with late, sharp bite. Good feel for firm 84-85 mph changeup; good hand speed produced sink and tail. Flashed 81-82 mph slider as fourth pitch.
10/8/17: 6-foot-2, 165 pound right-handed pitcher sat 82-84 for strikes with the fastball. Throws from a 3/4 slot with some arm speed. Slightly closed shoulders in load, good rhythm into foot strike. Lands slightly closed. Creates some arm side sink on fastball. Breaking ball features 10/4 shape with gradual break and some late depth at 71-74. Change-up has fade to his arm side with fastball arm speed. Hits from a slightly open setup with two-part load. Line drive approach. Stiff in lower half. Partial rotation. Quick barrel turn. High exit velocity of 89.
2/19/17: 6-foot-2, 165 pounds. Offensively, the RHH hits from a balanced setup. Loads back, 2-part swing. Produced average bat speed, long/uphill swing plane, line drive type hitter. Overall fair approach at the plate. Partial use of the lower half; stiff backside. Registered a high exit velocity of 84 mph. Defensively, long high ¾ arm action with average strength. Throws topped out at 81 mph. Showcased fluid footwork, fields the ball on his heels, long exchange.
