McGaughey was a nice revelation on the bump, pitching at 82-86 and reaching back for 87 once. The uncommitted two-way showed a breaking ball at 73-74 mph with 13” of sweep and a straight change at 75-77. He moves well down the slope, landing slightly crossfired. The arm works free and easy on the backside to a ¾ slot. He showed familiar abilities on the offensive side of things with a low-handed setup, taking a slight rocking load back before turning the barrel down-to-up for some lofted contact and exits that surpassed 95 mph. A 7-flat runner, Dean can play both C and 3B at the next level, with the arm shown on the mound translating in both places.

Quality athleticism in a 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame with some strength. 7.00 runner. Starts open with hinged setup and laid-back barrel. Short load as he wraps to a strong launch position. Delivers the barrel on-plane; peaked at 97 mph. Defends well at both positions with above average arm strength showing from the crouch (81 mph; 2.01-2.11) and across the diamond (86 INF velocity).

Athletic backstop with several above average abilities. 6-foot-1, 175-pound frame has at least 20 pounds to pack onto, already athletic with sub-7 run time. Hits from a lower handset with the barrel presented on-plane, impacted it for 96+ exits in batting practice on the top end. Versatile defender with a chance to be a starting catcher at the next level, receives well with solid average throwing ability (77 mph from crouch), also plays 3B at solid average clip.
6/10/25
6-foot-1, 175 pounder with athleticism and lean strength. Will rise in our next update after standing out on the circuit and at this event. 6.93 runner with the ability to play on the dirt and behind the dish, above average reciever, glove-to-hand is best defensive attribute and helps solid average arm strength (76 C Velo) play up. Direct swing plane with more pull-side approach and above average bat speed as well, exits peaked at 93+.
3/02/25
Projectable 6-foot-1, 170-pound athlete with a strong foundation behind the dish. McGaughey hits from a tall stance with a high handset and a short, on-plane swing. Posted a 90 mph max exit velocity and 273’ max distance, with more in the tank as strength is added. Defensively, he showed advanced catch-and-throw skills with 1.90–2.01 pop times, a 75 mph arm, and athleticism through the exchange. Also moves well for a catcher, clocking a 7.11 60-yard dash.
