5-foot-11, 180-pound athletic frame. Performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.65. Started in a balanced stance with a compact load, then used a leg kick to initiate his swing. Bat speed was above average, displayed level swing plane and high finish. Gap to gap approach. Thorntons best exit velocity was 84 mph. Athletic in the outfield, his best throws to the infield topped out at 79 mph; shows athletic quick footwork. Had a high ¾ slot and a short arm action with some accuracy to the base.

Hits w/ a slightly open, upright stance w/ back shoulder hand location. Big leg kick w/ short hand load. Shows some barrel feel w/ pull power. As frame grows, projects to hit w/ authority. Defensively, shows raw running speed w/ athletic movements in the OF w/ developing arm strength.
