6-foot-1, 180-pound, RHH hits from a balanced stance, mid-length stride, loose swing with explosive use of lower half generates good bat speed through the zone, flashes significant power potential, ball really jumps off the barrel when squared up. Has ability to play both third base and a corner outfield position, good hands and athletic corner actions, works through the ball well in the outfield, arm strength is solid from both positions with carry. Graves has made impressive strides in his game with improvement at each event.
7/6/16 - Max FB: 84, FB: 81-82, CB: 70
6-foot-1, 180-pound RHP with strong and athletic frame, arm action is loose and clean and works through a high-3/4 slot, controlled delivery with some coil and hip turn, has made a jump in velocity and projects for more, throws CB for strikes with varying shape and occasional depth, struck out the side (all on FB) in a quick inning of work.
6-foot-1, 185-pound RHH with strong and athletic frame, continues to show improvement in foot speed and arm strength, hits from a balanced stance, mid-length stride, stays fairly quiet with little wasted movement, swing path produces occasional lift and ball jumps off the barrel when he squares it up, has significant power potential, went 0-for-3 in game play. Showed well defensively at third base with soft hands and accurate throws across the infield from a long high-3/4 release, good body control and ability to throw on the move. Continues to improve overall game.
As a pitcher, showed the most velocity he has to date. Has an athletic frame, arm action long and loose and works through a high-3/4 slot, stays tall on the mound and produces downward tilt on his fastball with occasional arm-side run, works the lower half of the zone well with the fastball, tended to miss up with the curveball that showed short break, allowed three hits and no walks in his one inning of work. Would expect to see continued velocity gains and development.
6-foot-1, 175-pound RHH ran his best 60 to date and showed a big jump in exit velocity. Hits from a balanced stance, short stride, explodes with strong lower half, plus bat speed for age, ball jumps off his bat to the gaps, has potential to develop consistent power. Appears to have found a home defensively at 3B, shows adequate hands and lateral movement, long high-3/4 release, good body control on slow roller, slightly above average arm strength. Graves’ current best tool is his bat. He continues to make overall strides in his game.
