5-foot-9, 165-pound LHH, showed his best arm strength and exit velocity to date. Hits from an open stance and squares up with a mid-length stride, shows good power for size, generates very good bat speed through the zone. Moves well defensively in both directions with good athleticism, soft hands, good body control and ability to throw on the move, long high-3/4 release produced accurate throws across the infield. Benz’s ability to hit from the left side to go along with solid defensive ability make him one of the top 2B in the 2017 class.

6/16/15- 5-foot-9, 150-pounds, left-handed hitter hits from an open stance, squares up with a long stride, aggressive approach, line drive type hitter with occasional gap power, good bat speed, 87 mph exit velocity, ran 4.48 down the line, went 1-for-4 with a double to right-center in game play. Has soft hands, quick exchange, short ¾ release, good body control with athletic actions, 74 mph velocity across the infield.

10/4/14 - 5-foot-8, 150-pound left-handed hitter, hits from an open stance and squares front side with a long stride, shows some hand quickness and generates good  bat speed, good lower half torque in swing, shows gap-to-gap line drive ability with occasional pull-side power, showed good speed with a 4.38 home to first time, 76 mph exit velocity (83 at previous event), went 2-for-3 in game play with a single to center and triple to left.  Defensively, shows soft hands with athletic actions, good lateral movement in both directions, good body control with the ability to throw on the move from multiple arm angles, accurate throws across the infield, 73 mph arm strength, potential high-level 2017 prospect.

7/23/14 - Benz is a 5-foot-8, 150-pound prospect who shows good bat speed for a young prospect with 83 mph exit velocity off the tee.  He hits from an open stance with a long stride with good use of lower half, hands show some quickness, line drive type hitter with gap-to-gap approach.  Defensively, shows soft hands and fluid feet in playing through the baseball, good body control with the ability to throw accurately on the move, reached a top velocity of 71 mph across the infield, solid young prospect, went 1-for-4 with a single to center in game play showing the ability to make contact to all fields.

7/15/14 - 5-foot-8, 150-pound prospect shows solid defensive actions with quick feet, soft hands, and good lateral movement, shows good body control and the ability to throw from multiple arm angles, shows developing arm strength at 72 mph which should continue to get better.  At the plate, the left-handed hitter hits from an open setup with a long stride, explodes with lower half and generates good bat speed through the zone, line drive type hitter with gap to gap approach, shows some hand quickness, young prospect runs well with 7.07 60 yard dash and showed good bat speed for age with 83 mph tee exit velocity, 2017 prospect to follow.
