The Troy recruit got the start last Friday against Rummel, and turned in a quality outing that turned out to be a no-decision. Tipton uses a fluid/smooth delivery, and is an athletic mover down the slope with a quick arm. His FB showed some arm-side run at times and he worked his heater up to 91 mph, but sat mostly 84-88 mph throughout the outing. His mid-upper 70's flashed at times, as did his upper-70's CH, and he ended up going 5.1 innings and gave up 2 ER on 3 H with 5 BB and 6 K's. Tipton also got some good swings off at the plate, working from an upright stance with an aggressive load kick. He finished the night 3-4 at the plate with a RBI.
