Lafayette, LA- On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, we went to the University of Louisiana for our Top Prospect Games event. This invite-only event has become our premier event of the summer; very similar to our State Games that are held each fall. Close to 100 of the state's best and brightest uncommitted prospects got together for a full pro-style workout in the morning. Each player took part in running the 60 yard dash, taking batting practice, and participating in defensive drills. We ended the day with two games in the afternoon, where pitchers were able to face hitters live. Today, we continue our post-event coverage of the Top Prospect Games with a look at some of the uncommitted prospects in the 2025 and 2026 classes that impressed.

 

Middle-Infielders Show Out

When we first look at the final roster, we were excited about the group of middle-infielders coming to Tuesday's Top Prospect Games, but the group definitely exceeded our expectations as a whole. One of the biggest winners of the day was 2025 MIF Brock Laird (Natchitoches Central HS), who performed well during the workout and during gameplay. Laird stands in at 5'10" 170 lbs. with a physical lower-half, and he certainly plays bigger on the field. In Game 1, Laird blistered two balls to the pull-side, that both ended up as doubles.

 

 

2025 MIF Casey McCoy (Dutchtown HS) had a big spring for the Griffins and he continued to show well on Tuesday. During BP, McCoy showed some of the best bat speed on the day, as he whipped the barrel through the zone with aggression, but under control, and recorded a 95.1 mph max exit velocity. He also posted the top hand speed of the day, via Blast Motion, at 26 mph.

 

 

2025 MIF Brock Davis (Live Oak HS) was a member of our Jr. Future Games team two summer's ago, and every time that we get to see him, he reminds us why we like him. He's all business on the field and plays the game with the right energy and isn't afraid to be vocal. As for his personal performance, he was really good himself. He turned in his best PBR 60 time at a 7.10, while also taking some really good at-bats in game with one resulting in a pull-side single.

 

 

2025 MIF Josh Lim (Dunham HS) is another former Jr. Future Gamer, who like Davis above, we've had the opportunity to see a lot over the last couple of years. On Tuesday, the Dunham HS showcased off his best tool, his speed, as he recorded an event best 6.57 in the 60, and we've actually seen him get below 6.50 in a prior look. Hitting with wood, Lim led off Game 1 with a barrel, as he hit a line drive right at the left fielder. He also showed positional versatility, as we stuck Lim in centerfield for a couple of innings and he looked just as comfortable there as he did on the infield.

 

 

2025 MIF Brecken Bordelon (St. Louis Catholic HS) is another good looking, young prospect out of St. Louis Catholic HS, who we had heard really good things about heading into Tuesday. He's got a lean and athletic 6'0" 165 lbs. frame that should fill out nicely over the next couple of years. Bordelon defended really well in the infield and showed a good and accurate arm across the diamond (84 mph). He also collected a nice pull-side single during gameplay.

 

 

2025 MIF Jackson Beddoe (Sulphur HS) took some of the best in-game swings of the entire group on Tuesday, as he blistered two balls to the pull-side with one nearly going out of the park in left field. The Sulphur HS product was also solid on defense and showed off a good arm across the infield with an 85 mph positional velocity.

 

 

Lastly, one of the better defensive rounds of the day belonged to 2026 MIF Mills Richardson (Catholic BR HS). The former two-time Jr. Future Gamer has gained some strength and physicality since we last saw him and it showed. On the infield, he set his body and feet up in a good position to play through every ball, and he showed confidence in fielding with one hand. His arm was accurate and had carry across the infield at 82 mph, and that will only continue to get better as he matures.

 

 

Intriguing Athletes

There was a group of guys in attendance on Tuesday that you could group together as pure athletes with tools and upside, and each of these guys will be followed closely by our staff and college recruiters alike.

2025 Cameron Tipton (Chalmette HS) hit some of the hardest balls in BP from a more upright and relaxed stance. He handled the pitch down in the zone extremely well and recorded several 90 mph + exit velocities with a max exit velocity of 95.1 mph. Tipton also offered some intrigue on the mound, as he worked his FB up to 85 mph, while also showing feel for three pitches.

 

 

2025 Kaul Perkins (Oak Forest Academy) was like a stick of dynamite inside of a 5'10" 160 lbs. frame. The Oak Forest Academy product had one of the best overall days, as he ran a 6.81 in the 60, threw 90 mph from the OF, and recorded a 91.6 mph max exit velocity. He finished his day by hopping on the mound and showcased a quick and short arm action with a FB in the 85-87 mph range that had some serious sink and run.

 

 

2026 Braylen Montgomery (Walker HS) is a top 5 prospect in our '26 State Rankings, and after seeing him on Tuesday, he may have arguably the highest ceiling of any player in his class. The Walker HS product stands in at 6'3" 175 lbs. with long limbs and plenty of projection left. At the plate, he starts in an upright and narrow stance and uses a toe-tap load and stride, and when he connects, it's pretty electric. In Game 2, he was able to shorten his swing up with two strikes, and smoked an opposite field triple in the RCF gap. Montgomery then showed off his graceful strides and speed (6.84 in the 60) rounding the bases, almost looking as if he was gliding.

 

 

Standout Arms

Not everything was about offense on Tuesday, as there were a host of pitchers who enjoyed successful days.

2025 LHP Ross Lindsey (Natchitoches Central HS) kicked things off in Game 1 by showcasing a shorter arm stroke and a FB in the 83-85 mph range with some riding life through the zone. He also flashed a short and tight SL at 72-74 mph with feel for a late-fading 76-80 mph CH as well.

 

 

2025 RHP Logan Freche (Oak Forest Academy) oozes projection in a long-limbed 6'3" 170 lbs. frame. The Tulane recruit showed some of the best upside on the day from the younger group of arms, as he did a really good job of commanding his 83-85 mph FB to his glove side with spin rates up to 2483 RPM's. Freche also flashed an "11-5" shaped breaking ball with short lateral break and good depth.

 

 

Rounding out the arms is 2025 LHP Jairus Miller (Barbe HS). The southpaw had arguably the best in-game performance of any pitcher in attendance, as he finished the day striking out 5 of the 6 hitters that he faced. Miller presents a tough look, especially for left-handed hitters, as he releases the ball from a lower 3/4 slot. His FB sat in the 78-80 mph range and had good arm-side sink and run. He also showcased a true four-seamer, and actually recorded a strikeout looking on a well placed heater on the inner-half to a right-handed hitter. The Bucs will have to replace several arms going into next season, and Miller could certainly be a guy to help fill the void.
