Jason Flaherty: C/OF, (2024) out of Worcester Academy, MA. is a talented 5-foot-8, 170-pound catching prospect. During batting practice, the right-handed hitter displayed an exit velocity of 94 MPH with a 70.06 MPH bat speed average and 21.35 MPH hand speed average. Flaherty begins in a wide, open stance with the hands relaxed. A short load stacks the weight over the back leg, with the hands getting into a strong hitting position. The bat head takes a flat path to and through the hitting zone. During his round, the bat speed and ability to use the whole field were evident. Behind the plate, his best recorded velocity during throw downs were 71 MPH, with a pop time range of 2.16-2.19. He sets up in a staggered stance with the glove set in the middle of the chest. As he transitions to throw, he shows he has smooth feet, soft hands, and a clean transfer. During the event, Flaherty also recorded a 60 time of 7.12.

Jason Flaherty: C/OF, (2024) Worcester Academy, MA. 5-foot-8, 160-pound solid build. Athletic during batting practice, Flaherty displayed an exit velocity of 98 mph, Ranks #3 with EV at the event. (75.39 mph bat speed average). (22.29 mph hand speed average). Started in an open wide stance with a controlled load, then used a short stride. Bat speed is quick, has a simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. He produced loud contact and found lots of barrels. Gap to gap approach. Behind the plate, his best recorded velocity during throw downs was clocked at 70 mph; has athletic feet, a quick exchange, and sure hands. recorded pop times of 2.00-2.10. Had athletic setup. Had a short arm action with a ¾ slot. Clocked a time of 7.1 in the 60-yard dash.  (Max spin ; Avg ).

Hit: (RHH) Athletic. Begins in an open wide stance with a controlled load, then uses a short stride. Quick bat speed. Good extension on his finish, simple swing. Gap to gap approach. 

Power: 98 mph exit velocity, average 90.45 mph. 75.39 mph bat speed average. 22.29 mph hand speed average. Top 3 ev at the showcase. 

Defense: (C) 2.00-2.10 pop times. Sure hands, athletic footwork, quick exchange. Athletic. Had athletic setup. 

Arm: 70 mph catcher velocity. Short arm action, ¾ slot. 

Speed: 7.10 (60-yard).

Flaherty is a 5-foot-8, 160 pound right-handed hitting catching prospect. He hits out of an athletic, slightly open stance, with the hands set low. The load is short and allows him to get into a strong hitting position. The bat-path is direct and showcases his quick hands. During the batting practice, Flaherty showed the ability to drive the ball, especially to the pull side, yielding a max exit velocity of 92 MPH.

Defensively, Flaherty was nursing an ankle injury and did not participate.

Flaherty was impressive with the bat! He’s added some muscle since the summer and it shows with his swing.

5-foot-8, 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher. He is starting to get physically stronger and grow into his game. He ran a 7.14 sixty at the event. The skill set behind the dish is solid, as he threw 64 mph down to second base with a pop time of 2.0. The release and feet are quick in action during the transfer. The receiving is solid and he continues to improve his game immensely. The bat has an exit velocity of 92 mph. The setup is even in base and the front foot gains ground to the baseball as the swing is produced. The hands produce a flat swing with a 1-handed release after contact with the baseball. He is a good looking prospect.

Catching Velocity- 64 mph

5-foot-8, 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher. Ran a 7.44 sixty at the event. The receiving is trending well and he continues to work on securing the catch/softening the glove. He moves athletically back there and shows good habits. He threw 65 mph with a pop time of 2.13. The setup at the plate is wide in base and the hands work quickly to contact. Starts the swing with a small amount of bat wrap. The hands work well and he shows a good feel for hitting.

Catching Velocity- 65 mph

JUNIOR FUTURES

5-foot-4, 120-pound right-handed hitting catcher and infielder. Ran a 7.54 sixty at the event as the foot speed is trending the right way. Excellent player at a young age. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 82 mph. The setup is wide in base, front foot open to start. The hands work free and clean to the ball. The path to the ball is flat, needs to accelerate through contact, as he cuts off his swing. Behind the dish, shows a solid skill set. Threw 61 mph down to second base with a pop time of 2.25. The transfer and foot work is trending the right way. Threw 58 mph across the diamond in the infield. The approach to the ball is done appropriately and he works with soft hands.  Excellent player with his best days in front of him.

INF Velocity- 58 mph

Catching Velocity- 61 mph

Pop Time- 2.25

5-foot-4, 120-pound right-handed hitting catcher and infielder. Ran a 7.8 sixty at the event. The feet and glove work in the infield, threw 64 mph during the infield portion of the workout. The arm works free and clean. Behind the dish, showed an advanced skills et. Threw 63 mph from behind the dish. The feet and transfer are solid in the process. The receiving is soft and he should continue to develop the catch and throw skill. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 72 mph. The setup is wide in base, uses a pick up and put down of the front foot at the ball approaches. The path is clean to contact and he shows good life in the path.

Tee Exit Velocity- 72 mph

INF Velocity- 64 mph

Catching Velocity - 63 mph
