MD Top Prospect Games 6/20/17
Cooley is an athletic, switch-hitting middle infielder. From the left side, he has a simple and slightly open set up. He lands square after a minimal load. He gets some separation and launches the barrel through the zone on a level path. He has some hand speed to go along with some extension and a balanced finish. Cooley carries the same setup and swing from the left side to the right. He showed more gap power potential from the right side but a better ability to barrel line drives from the left. Exit velocity was 81 mph from both side. In the infield, he has active and efficient footwork that allows him to range in all directions. He has a clean, quick transfer with smooth hands and an ability to make accurate throws to the bases. Infield velo of 79 mph.
12.3.16:   Athletic 5-10 frame, switch hitter, from the left side has a slightly crouched athletic stance with low hands. Leg kick stride and short load back, decent hips and good balance throughout swing. Short to the ball with extension through it, working slightly uphill with some pull tendency and a line drive swing. From the right side, balanced athletic stance, leg kick stride with slight load back. Explosive hips and good balance, short to the ball, working the middle with a line drive swing. Best exit velocity was 79 from right side. At short, solid footwork and soft hands and a clean exchange. Short arm action from low three-quarters slot, position velocity of 76. Home to first was 4.43.
9/11/16 - Athletic frame at 5-foot-10, 150-pounds. Switch hitting prospect. RH. Balanced set up short load and level swing path through the baseball. Simple swing with no extra movement. LH wider set up, with similar short load. Level swing path with better bat speed and more free hands through contact. Active feet in the infield. Clean hands and exchange, throwing from a ¾ slot with a shorter arm action…Controlled, build up delivery that gathers momentum through leg kick then a slight pause and glide. Shorter arm action throwing from an almost over the top slot. Fastball has slight sink on the pitch at 76 mph. Breaking ball has shorter breaking with 10/4 action on the pitch at 69 mph. Change up cuts at times at 72 mph.
