6-foot, 175 pound prospect. Short quick arm action with a good two pitch mix. Locates fastball well at 74-76 mph. 12/6 curveball with good depth at 63-65 mph. Smooth defender at shortstop with great actions with glove and footwork, threw 70 mph across the infield. Ran a 6.97 60. Open to even stance, plus bat path through the zone with strength in his bat to all fields. Bat speed registered at 88 mph.


8/30/13 Phillips has been flying under the radar but is ready to burst onto the scene.  Like him the most as a pitcher but can certainly play in the infield as well.  79-81 on this day.  Have seen him up to 83 in game action in the summer.  Tons of strikes.  Breaking ball for a strike. Has sweeping action.  Loose quick arm.  Defensively very solid. Well coached.  Accurate throws. Good angles and actions.  At the plate shows good shoulder trigger. Compact short path.  Potential gap pop later on.
