5-foot-9, 165 pound prospect. Loose quick twitch actions in the outfield with footwork, range, and glove. Threw 78 mph with a very accurate arm. Ran a 7.28 60. Ran a 4.38 home to first. Good setup in the box with good balance in swing, middle approach with strength in his bat to the pull side. Bat speed registered at 87 mph.

3/2/13 Tompkins showed well.  He is a 5-foot-9 athlete with a good motor.  In the outfield, he has an over-the-top arm slot.  Footwork was solid and showed good ability to break down and field ball well.  Consistent clean transfers.  Arm is quick. At the plate, he showed a consistent line drive stroke.  Has good balance.  Does have tendency to sit-and-spin. 

2/9/13 Tompkins is an athletic 5-foot-9, 152-pound OF. His arm strength from the outfield was 76mph.  He ran a 7.56 60.  His throws were accurate and online from his over-the-top slot.  He hits from a slightly open stance and shows good balance.  His path was short and produced consistent line drives.
