Aggressive and athletic at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Batka tied for the day’s top fastball at 95 mph. He sat mostly 94 and showed some late cut with his 4-seamer. He tends to slow his arm on his 83-86 mph change-up, but it did show some sink/tail. He also had some feel for a 76-81 mph slider with fair depth, but lacked much control of the offering. Overall, Batka is more projection than polish at this point, but the athleticism and upside are obvious for this true freshman and his future is bright.

Fielding: Shows a good feel for the position possessing good range, with a plus throwing arm. Soft hands in the field. Can play all over the infield. 90 mph across the infield. Hitting: Sets up with strong lower half with hand movement at the plate Shows fast hands and a feel for the barrel. Hit the ball hard to all fields. Comfortable hitting the ball deep in the zone. Raw power. Mechanics: Narrow set up with a controlled motion using a letter high leg lift. Throws downhill with the ball coming out of his hand from a 3/4 arm angle. Fastball: Commands the zone well throwing downhill with sink. Throws with a little effort sitting 84-87 mph. Touched 88 mph. Curve: 12/6 break on the curve with a gradual break 71-72 mph. Changes the pace. Change up: May be his best pitch, big time deception on the pitch thrown with identical arm speed as the fastball 75-78 mph.

6-foot-1, 175 pound athletic built prospect showed great versatility on the day, during his stand out performance. Behind the plate catches with one hand driving off the back leg and using his arm strength to get the ball down to 2B with quickly. Tucks his chin and sticks his chest out well keeping the ball in front while blocking. At the plate uses a tall stance with his hands moving. Swings aggressively while using a top hand release making contact. Ball jumped off his bat. At SS moves light on his feet going laterally well. Soft hands and a quick release. On the mound steps left and throws from a high ¾ arm angle. Fastball explodes out the hand. 84-86 mph with cut action. Deceptive change-up thrown with similar arm speed 74. Sharp breaking curve 74 mph with depth. At times gets on the side of the curve. Drives well off the mound working the lower half of the zone.
