Downard has a lanky 6-foot, 150-pound build. On the mound, he throws from a high-3/4 arm slot with a short arm action and an effortless delivery. His fastball sat 68-70 mph with sinking action. His curveball had 1/7 shape with some depth at 55-56 mph. His changeup sat 62-64 mph with sinking action and was thrown with fastball arm speed. He has a quick tempo on the mound with his delivery and strides inline with his target.
