Haney

6/18/13 Evenly proportioned, athletic body w/future gains in strength and maturity.  Balanced approach, barrel is flat thru zone and can pull hands in to get to inside pitch.  Agile w/body control in the field.  81mph across the diamond. On the mound topped out at 83mph.  Sat primarily between 79-82mph.  Arm is shorter with high elbow in the back.  Slider has some bite.  

2/9/13 Haney sat 83-85mph with his fastball.  Haney is already a bigger athlete (6-foot-2, 185-pounds) and still has some room to grow. His delivery has some effort in it and he has a little funkiness as well.  His breaking ball plays well and has late break (69-71mph).  Haney throws strikes and should get plenty of outs for Rockford this spring.

In the infield Haney separates himself with his arm.  He was 84mph across the diamond at the Underclass Preview. He showed the ability to throw from multiple arm angles and his throws had plenty of carry to them.  He didn't run well on this day according to his standards (7.29) but we have had him around 7.1 in workout in the past.  His bat needs to improve moving if he wants to hit at the next level. He also threw off the mound at the Underclass Preview which is where he most likely will end up down the road. Overall Haney is a good athlete with some upside and is definitely one to follow.
