5-foot-11, 175 pound infield prospect. At the plate has an upright stance with a slight bend at the knees keeping his hands and weight back. Takes a small stride and keeps his barrel in the hitting zone as he swings. 89 MPH exit velocity. Smooth fielding shortstop works around the ball well as he sets himself to field showing soft hands. Has good range. Position velocity was 78 MPH. On the mound has short arm action from the high 3/4 arm slot. Fastball was 77-80 MPH with some run, curveball was 67-69 MPH with late break and changeup was 71-73 MPH.

Welch has an athletic 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame. Stands narrow with his weight on the back leg, using a leg kick with his load and keeps the barrel through the hitting zone. Had an exit velocity of 77 mph and ran a 4.60 home-to-1st. Showed good range on the infield and moves his feet well through the ball. Had a velocity of 72 mph across the diamond.
