Richard Lu: OF/RHP, (2021) Forest Hills Northern, MI. 6-foot, 170-pound. During batting practice, Lu had an exit velocity of 92 mph, showing his ability to drive the ball with power. Recorded an outfield position velocity of 85 mph. Showed off his speed at the event, running a swift 6.77 60-yard dash. On the mound, threw his fastball 81-83 mph with a max of 84 mph. Curveball (68-70 mph), changeup (66-70 mph).
Pitching: Athletic prospect takes a step left showing a slower leg lift and accelerating towards the plate. Throws with easy arm action with a lot of arm side run one the fastball. Sharp breaking on his curve with depth showing late bite. Tough pitch to square up.
Fielding: In the OF moves light on his feet working towards the ball. Shows easy arm action on his throws with carry 85 mph.
Hitting: A gap to gap approach at the plate producing line drives with a short compact swing. Top of the order hitter with potential to add power.
Hitting: Balanced stance at teh plate with fast hands. Handles the bat well making solid contact showing a top hand release. Drove a few balls to left center.
Pitching: On the mound starts with a slant moving to a letter high leg lift while throwing with a fast arm. Easy arm action with a cut feel to it. Fastball commands the zone working the corners. Delivers from a 3/4 arm angle. Fastball sat 83-85 mph. Sweeping action on the curve down in the zone 69-71 producing swing and misses. Change with deception was 77 mph. Slider thrown 72-75 mph.
Hitting: Tall stance with a slight open approach. Shows fast hands using a top hand release and long finish creating back spin on the swing. Bat control is well, at times gets long on the path.
Swing: Sets up at the plate with a wide base keeping his hands back. Shows minimal movement staying quiet. Level swing path driving the ball. Produced several line drives. 85 mph exit velocity with a wood bat. Ran a 6.93.
Mechanics: Repeats his delivery each time sitting on his back leg and exploding off the mound.
Fastball: Easy out the hand with late run in the zone 83-84 mph.
Curve: Sharp break on the curve at an 11/5 angle 69-70 mph.
Change up: Slightly slows arm on the change up with a downer feel 70-72 mph.
Fielding: Quick fielder, gets the ball off his left leg, takes a couple steps and throws with a quick arm 89 mph.
5-foot-10, 155 pound two way prospect works with an upbeat tempo on the mound throwing from a high 3/4 arm angle. Fastball comes out his hand easy 80-82 mph with late life topped 83 mph. Late breaking curve from a 11/5 arm angle 65-68 mph. Change up was thrown with similar arm speed as the fastball 75-77 mph. In the OF has a calm pace working towards the ball, takes a gather step and slight crow hop throwing 84 mph.
5-foot-10, 155 pound prospect has a smooth delivery throwing with a fast arm from a 3/4 arm angle. Fastball sat 80-82 mph with late run while coming out the hand with ease. Mixed in a 68-70 mph late breaking curve with bite.
