4/16/16- Central Michigan recruit was 83-85 mph; consistently touching 87 mph. Erratically effective around zone. Wasn't lights out; but pitched well enough to win. Fast twitch body. Control and velocity should continue to improve in college once he smooths out mechanics.
9/1/15- Hitch in delivery. Moderate effort on release. Flashes arm-side life on fastball working 83-85 mph. Curveball shows above avg. depth at 71-72 mph with 12/6 rotation and break.
6/16/15- MN Top Prospect
6-foot-3, 175-pound left-handed pitcher. Raether did not throw as well in this event as we’ve seen previously; but is still strongly positioned as one of the better LHP’ers in the state of Minnesota. Rhythm seemed off at times. Showed the ability to leverage fastball down and in on RHH. Arm is clean and ball jumps out of hand with solid run to outer half. The arm is fast and changeup is a plus pitch for him. Breaking ball was thrown with tight rotation and varying 12/6 – 1/7 shape.
2/28/15- MN Preseason All-State
6-foot-3, 175-pound left-handed pitcher. Loose lean body. Arm works free and easy. Arm is fast. Moderate effort on fastball. Has made huge strides in arm action and overall feel since October 2014. Fastball is 83-85 mph with above average life. Command is solid. Good extension out front. Curveball has tight rotation and shows ability to throw for strikes. Flashes hard late break. 70-72 mph. Changeup is flat at times but serviceable presently. 70-73 mph. Overall one of the top left-handed pitching prospects in state; should continue to see jumps in velocity in future.
October 2014
6-foot-3, 170-pound left-handed pitcher. Tall athletic body. Long legs. Projects well and will be able to continue to add positive weight and strength. Shows good rhythm on mound. Upper and lower half sequence well in delivery. Slightly crouched posture at balance point. Has good direction to plate. Arm works well from high ¾ slot. Arm action starts long and begins to shorten upon release. Ball comes out of hand clean and easy. Fastball is downhill for strikes at 77-79 mph. Breaking ball has 1/7 shape with tight rotation and late cutting action. Shows some effort with changeup and arm tends to slow. Pitch has good ASR and is thrown for strikes. Overall has arm speed, delivery is loose and easy, and projects to develop physically. Quality High Follow for 2016 class.
