6-foot, 195-pound 2-way player. Strong thick build. Deeper load into launch position. Creates good bat speed. Hands tend to drift down creating lift in swing from slight uphill plane. Creates good energy in lower half. Shows power to pull side of field. 83 mph exit velocity off tee. Proto third base actions. Will rely too much on arm strength at times. Moves well and is light on feet for size. Glove is solid and throws show above average accuracy and carry. 81 mph across infield. Controlled delivery with short leg kick and average balance point. Arm is loose from ¾ slot. Fastball has arm-side life at 82-84 mph. Slider is thrown hard with late break for strikes. Has ability to start pitch in zone and take away for swing and miss. Splitter has heavy action with depth and late sink. Some effort in delivery on off-speed. Overall quality 3 pitch mix with good action and life on pitches.

2020 DRAFT:After an All-Star game appearance in the Cape Cod League last summer, Palmer has continued to perform at an elite level this spring (2-1, 1.30 ERA, 27.2 IP, 12 H, 5BB, 41 SO, .130 OPPBA). Now as the Friday starter for the Dolphins he sits 92-96 mph with his fastball and also boasts a pair of solid secondary offerings in his slider and changeup. With three pitches, a durable body and starter-type delivery and arm action Palmer profiles as a starter in pro ball and has gained steam into the top three rounds.

3/10/20:Average height with bigger/strong frame. Limited projection. College starter that may move to the pen in pro ball. Big arm with feel for spin. Was up to 96 and down to 92 out of the stretch. Fastball was electric with quality arm side run and commanded to both sides of the plate. Anytime he saw any signs of trouble, went straight to a heavy slider mix. Slider is solid average with a chance to be plus. Would like to see a little more trust in the fastball though pitches were called by coach. Showed a split with below average action on this look. Likely role as back end starter or middle reliever that will fit nicely into a big league bullpen. (W Jones)

8/21/19:Pumped his fastball up to 96 mph (mostly 93-95) showing good arm strength during his one inning appearance at the ASG. The pitch jumped on hitters the last few feet to the plate with some sink. Curveball broke early at 75-76 mph, most were below average with one flashing average on this look. Also mixed in what looked to be a split changeup at 82 by the way it came out of his hand. Palmer is a likely Day Two selection who profiles as a later inning bullpen arm at the pro level. (Seifert)

8/1/18:Palmer is another young arm in this league with some upside. Palmer, a 6-foot-1, 225-pounder, has a stocky stature and is coming off a solid spring with the Dolphins, where he tallied a 2.86 ERA in 44 innings, along with 46 strikeouts and 18 walks. He’s continued his successful ways this summer, tallying a 2.07 ERA in 30.1 innings, along with 34 strikeouts and 10 walks. Palmer worked just an inning in the ASG and sat 91-92 mph with his fastball, while also flashing a slider. Palmer could be ready to take yet another jump with JU in 2019. (K Rogers)
